Miami's Gusman Center for the Performing Arts (originally known as the Olympia Theater) was built in 1926. The theater is one of the country’s best remaining examples of the "movie palaces" that became popular in the silent-film era. Later, it became an important stop on the Vaudeville circuit. In the early 1970s it was almost demolished to make room for a parking lot – but today, after $6.5 million in renovations, the Olympia/Gusman once again shines as downtown Miami’s cultural landmark. BodenPR was hired to roll out a U.S. Hispanic Media Relations campaign for the Gusman Theater’s 80th anniversary, landing the historical venue on the front page of El Nuevo Herald, among other media hits.
